Thailand’s International Yachting Festival
Phuket King's Cup Regatta (3-10 December 2016)
Phuket is gearing up for a major two-week festival of yachting events covering all aspects of the on-water sport and lifestyle around the Thailand Yacht Show. The Phuket King’s Cup Regatta, the biggest and longest-running sailing regatta in Asia, will be a particularly poignant occasion this year. For three decades, Phuket King’s Cup Regatta has been the pinnacle of international regattas in Asia, dedicated to HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej for his passion and support for the sport of sailing.
Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous (10-12 December 2016)
Even as the trophies are being awarded on the final day of the King’s Cup on Saturday 10 December, so the doors will open on the first Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous, which is an invitation-only event welcoming the owners of some of the biggest superyachts in the region, their VIP guests, yachting professional and luxury media for a 3 fun-filled days of yachting activity. The luxurious, superyacht-designed Kata Rocks resort overlooks the very bay in which the King’s Cup fleet are competing, so the mix of superyachts alongside the plethora of sailing yachts will be quite a spectacle in itself.
Thailand Yacht Show (15-18 December 2016)
And combining all these different types, shapes and sizes of on-water craft, from small sailing boats to show-stopping superyachts, is the Thailand Yacht Show, which follows on immediately after the Kata Rocks event. The new national boat show is a “try it and see” experiential event for yachting and boating-minded people from all over the region to get on board and live the lifestyle. It is above all an opportunity for the local industry to meet new clients and sell boats, but also a regional marketing platform for the global yachting industry. And it is a chance for seasoned charter brokers from all over the world to come and see what Thailand has to offer for their clients from the West - most of whom are keen to see and experience a new destination for their winter cruising holiday.
